I just caught this awesome anime movie at Picture House a week ago. The year is 2077, ten years into Japan's decision to withdraw from the United Nations and the initiation of her isolation policy. Within the decade, nobody will know what happened in Japan, until now. Due to the Japan's increasing threat of bio-terrorism on the world, the Americans have decided to send in the elite SWORD to infiltrate the fortress of Japan
I would say that the only flaw in this production is the plot. I wouldn't describe it as thin but most anime fans would have expected to see much more content such as conspiracy theories in the storyline.
The film scores high on its music, effects and animation. It is guaranteed to make the hair on your back stand on its end, oo yeaa... The scene that justified the price of the ticket was when the SWORD crashed through the glass windows of a building, in slow motion, sending little shards of glass flying across the walkway, then taking down their enemies. The intricate effort taken to create each little piece of glass really left my jaw gaping wide... It is also packed with adrenal fight scenes. In an attempt to attract female audience, the producer has appointed ladies to be the main roles in this movie, leaving the men look really like worthless sidekicks that are only good for wasting.
This is really a film that is worth catching, simply because we don't get many such movies in the cinemas, and it's... good...
