I was catching a few moments of action from the 'live' Rugby World Cup match between Australia and Japan... It was really a thrashing (at least for until the last second of action I caught)... The Japanese looked like midgets compared to those Aussie chunks of muscle... No way they can win the guys from down under!! They are already down by 23 to nil with only half an hour gone...
The intriguing part about it was that it was the Japanese fans who were making the most noise, cheering their team on and booing the Australians whenever they chop their comrades down... And when the Nihon-go were awarded a penalty kick, and 20 year-old Toshi Ono converted it, the entire stadium erupted as if Japan have won the Rugby World Cup, FIFA World Cup and topped the medals standings for the Beijing Olympics altogether!! How committed are you to your nation's success?? Are you like a Japanese fan?
Or are you like an England fan... Nothing the country's national team does seem to please you... Even when they thrash opponents by more than 3 goals, you say that's what they should be doing, it's nothing much... and when they lose, all hell breaks loose, you go bonkers, you smash up the streets, you set cars on fire... You can't stop picking fault with the team and its manager...
Or are you a Singaporean fan? One week before the Tiger Cup, you go 'Noh Alam Shah rocks!!!'... One week after the Tiger Cup, 'Who's Noh Alam Shah?? Yar i think it's great that Singapore won the tournament, but it's just the pathetic Tiger Cup, for Southeast Asian football minnows only...' You simply go with the wave...
