My Personal Legend

Words are powerful. Words have power! Words have changed the course of history and mankind. Every thought and plan no matter how much it weighs on the scale of grandeur has to be executed with the start of words. Words can be building blocks, words can tear down; words can inflict wounds, and can heal them too.

People have left their impact on mankind with their words.

Jesus said, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me'.

'One death is a tragedy; a million is a statistic.' Those words from Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin displayed his lack of regard for life. An estimated figure of 3-60 million lives were lost due to the holodomor and deportations.

In reference to the countless who were served and touched by Mother Theresa, in her words, 'Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.' with that, she put her love into word and inspired many to follow her footsteps in the ministry.

I haven't heard many say this, but I believe word is art too. Words, when used appropriately, can churn out certain feelings in the reader that is desired by the author. A picture can speak a thousand words. But a gifted writer can use a hundred words to describe a scene and lead his readers to certain emotions and conclusions.

From Gustav Mahler, my favourite composer (for his rich emphasis on brass), 'If a composer could say what he had to say in words he would not bother trying to say it in music'. It doesn't take an artist or musician to understand the written or spoken word, unlike a painting or a symphony, which would require intepretation in detail. Thus the far-reaching ability of the word.

It takes great skill and ability to be able to harness this power into something that can shape the course of history and speak into the lives of millions.

Like drops of rain pouring down and covering every inch of ground, similar is the effect and the power of the word, which can speak into all of Man on the planet.
