66/06 Commissioning Parade: Gabriel's Tears

I just came home from the 66/06 commissioning parade for officer cadets. OCT YOON JUN QI, GABRIEL, is now, 2LT YOON JUN QI, GABRIEL!!

I have known gabby, for about almost 2 years already... he is one of the quietest ppl i've ever met in my life... he really takes over his dad... i mean, he really takes after his dad... he's the kind of guy whom you can pray for 24 hours straight about and minister the deepest wounds in his life (ok just kidding abou tthe wounds part cos i've not prayed for him on that before) and not a single tear would drop from his eyes...

But he's also one of the nicest guys I've ever met in my life... He's always willing to help, with no questions asked and no strings attached... Just last week, I asked him to replace me for my church duties and he agreed readily! Man, he doesn't know how touched I was and what that meant to me... gabriel ain't my friend... he's more than a friend, he's my brudda...

Army seems to have changed gabby's life... he seems to be more confident and firm in his speech... in the past, he used to the words 'maybe' and 'so-called' about in 40% of all his sentences... now, he speaks with a different 'feel' altogether... i thank God for SAF, cos of the army, gabby's a different person! he even dresses differently now!! he's certainly hippier than in the past...

i was more excited and more filled with adrenaline that i had expected as i witnessed the parade... gabby's family and amos and joel can attest to that... the SAF pledge really made my hair stand... esp the part where the cadets shouted that they will protect the nation with all their lives!! man... i simply mumbled those lines on the day of my enlistment...

today's the first ever time i saw gabriel cry... it made me feel like crying too... it seemed like as those tears were shed, his old self was shed off too... gabriel's never the same again!!

PRAISE THE LORD!!!

see you for dragon boating tmr brudda!!
