One of my dreams is to be a vet. And to be honest it still is... I was and still am looking for a scholarship to get a degree in veterinary, but naw... ain't such thing in singapore, and can't afford going overseas...
I used to struggle with my 'weird' dream of becoming a vet. we always hear about impacting lives, changing lives, spreading the gospel, but erm... taking care of animals? how useful is that? animals unlike us have no souls... they ain't going to heaven... so i sorta put that thought aside for awhile... but then i came across this Gen 9:2-5
'The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. "But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.'
Genesis 9:2-5
The Lord entrusted the lives of animals and plants into our hands, we are to take good care of them, and we are even to account for their lives!! God has given us this task, but i think that Man has failed Him badly...
It sickens me to see how animals are hunted, poached and tortured by Man for the pleasure of Man... My heart aches to see and hear of such stories... How terrified bears get shot down from trees to be torn apart by dogs, sharks having their fins sawed off and thrown into the seas to die (sharks' fins are meant to keep their balance while swimming, so w/o them, they just sink to the bottoms of the oceans), monkeys having their skulls cut open to have hot oil sprinkled over them, and the most recent one i caught on tv, fish having their bodies dipped into oil while the chef grabs their head above the pot and sick chinese ppl eating straight from it while it is still gasping for air...
am i the only one who feels like this? i know the world would soon be destroyed, but that doesn't mean that we can't do anything as christians to save as many animals as we can... we can't save all, but every life counts...
i was asked to make 3 bday 'wishes',
1. to lose weight and look like taiwanese boyband material, haw haw,
2. to simply be more like Jesus,
3. to be able to fulfil my dream of becoming a vet one day...
